A day travelling back up to Christchurch. Amazing how appealling the Nissan sunny has become! :-)
Stopped off at some limestone formations - elephant rocks and some whale fossils.
Also Oamaru - a wonderful art gallery, with an exhibition by a couple of NZ artists on the history & meaning of Art. It was clever, satirical and very funny, a mix of cartoon sketches, test and canvases. It also complied with the NZ habit of calling a spade a spade. Comment on everything from how to interact with abstract art, (if you "get it" you're a little odd and if you don't "get it" nod and move on...if not you'll only end up talking b#*&$41t!) to critical feedback and how an artist stops being an artist and becomes a "name".
Our recollection from last visit was that the road north of Oamaru was dull....how true!
