MAJOR SUCCESS: figured out how to use the public transport system - took ourselves successfully to (and more importantly back from) the botanic gardens. Masses of amazing orchids and butterflies - we have limited the piccies, but trust me there were masses.
Survival kit has had its first outing (THANK YOU Perkins!).
Managed to hire a guide and arrange some transport for the next two weeks of hiking/biking & climbing.
This week Ecuador is celebrating 200yrs since the founding of Quito. Street parades, balloons, fancy dress and buses with bands. Fun, noisy & mostly incomprehensible to the visitor.
